yeah, that would be funny...................... What civics would you use to shut the people up and how mutch would you need to keep them helthy.

But you got to admit, it does look beutifull

@ UnitQ - Supertropolis sure looks a lot like L.A., complete with the nasty haze.

I know it's WB but it's still a cool picture. :goodjob:

I'm not sure this quite counts as funny... though, I find it quite amusing that it lined up so well... the lighthouse built upon the outer edge of the harbor... and the boat docked at one of the piers.

TripleGemini: that's probably one of the few times that things actually lined up right ;)

This one struck me as amusing in a game I just finished. I was playing the end run though of events and first up greece and germany were founded side by side so I loaded up the start game from the auto folder and entered world builder for this image below

Correct me if I am wrong but I didn't think this could happen. According to the playback it took ages for poor Alex to get past Bismark and he never amounted to much as a consequence.:( for Alex :D for me

Ouch. It takes a lot to make me feel sympathy for Alexander, but that does it. Who were you playing?

Victoria. I didn't see it as that was in the opposite corner of the main continent to my startup pos. When I got the first WM trade I didn't pay much attention to it as alex was pretty much always at the bottom of the heap and with Montezuma, Tokugowa and Musa next to me I had some fun grabbing land :crazyeye:

Still it suprised me as I thought they had to have a certain min distance apart?

It was a huge terra map though so maybe the start script thought they were on diff continents and the dividing line runs between the two. Only idea I could come up with.

Sure did make it easier not having to worry about the greeks though.

Oh man, almost crapped my pants from laughing when I went through this thread. Anyway I recently got Civ IV and found these forums just today. Saw something strange on one of my games and decided to post here then.

I was minding my own business during my turn when suddenly Egyptian workers come sliding from their territory to mine! Their feet weren't moving at all, they just kinda skated through my lands and went off to the fog of war. Was expecting them to disappear but nope, they just were sliding on top of the fog. I could see where the forest was when the workers went behind the black trees. Also locations of mountais were pretty obvious. Very possible to skate over them it seems.

At this point I woke up from the "WTH" state I was in and took a screenshot.

Here they are closing in on the Egyptian territory again after sliding through the world.

And here I noticed that lonely flag next to Thebes they were heading towards. Sure enough, when they reached that flag, they just stopped and started working again.
I don't really know why they decided to go off like that, during my turn too, but I suppose workers get bored sometimes and need some time to go around the world for a change.

Taala - you'll need the patch. I think it fixes that.

Nah, my game is patched. I have never actually played the game other than with the latest patch.
This a common bug on previous versions then? Doesn't really bother me since it had only happened to me once. I wouldn't even mind seeing them again, just sliding around the world.

Meteora is an awesome sight.
Been there, and it really makes you wonder how the heck they got the building materials up there. If you ever get to Greece and are on the mainland, consider going there.

The units are acting very strange in this latest release of Civilization. Numerous posters here have captured odd behaivors that are atypical for animated and fictional beings. Perhaps Soren's work on the AI is more advanced than anyone has suspected. Perhaps the units have come alive.

I mean just look at the evidence that has been presented in this thread. Taala's pics of workers 'skating' across the landscape on some hidden errand is just the latest of many examples. I found aaronflavor's screenshot of a wandering swordsman to be outright spooky. Who knows what that guy was up to. And Supa's evidence of deviant beasteality behaivor is disturbing to say the least. It's no wonder we have begun seeing two-headed horses!

I've caught one of my missionaries stealing an artifact from a rival civ.
And just recently I witnessed a double murder....

I suppose those warriors pushed them a little too hard.

I have no idea what these two Great Engineers were up to...

But when I zoomed in for a closer look, one of them noticed me...

Yes something very odd is happening in the Civ world. It seems that the units have come alive within our computers. I suggest treating them respectfully as you would any other sentient being. Theres no telling what they might do if you don't. Remember what the workers did to the warriors when they pushed them too hard!

Here are a couple of screenshots from my latest game. I zoomed out to world view and when I zoomed back in, it didn't drop down to look front on, it just zoomed straight down. This is a top view of my OCC city.

Notice the Taj Mahal bottom center. Before that was build, I had the hanging gardens there and stone henge off to the right. I guess those Taj Mahal builders were able to move things around a bit.

Here is another of those 'lets build up a mountain' experiences. Visitors to the theatre could ride the water slide ride back to the city.

I was lookin through the civics in the Civiliopedia, trying to understand someone of them...

I guess poor Sid was working late overtime with no coffee...

"Usually, however, organized religions are less powerful that that and must live in uneasy harmony with the local secular governments"

I read this 100 times and it STILL didn't make any sense
