Actually, I agree. If they did what they did with horses, then they should have done it with cows, pigs and sheep.

And Corn, Wheat and Rice should be invisible until you discover Agriculture.

Fish, Clams and Crabs (and especially whale) should be invisible until you discover fishing.

Stone and Marble should be invisible until you discover Quarrying.

etc etc etc.

Of course, that might make the opening start a bit bleak to look out on, no resources visible from start.....

I'd actually support all of this.

the screenshot is real, I just pasted the screenshot into paint and saved the file because for some reason, civ 4 is not saving my images

this gunner must have read some modding magazines :scan:

I'm more against it, because I like to know when I start if I'm in a fair location, good location or great location.

I'll just quickly point out that Agriculture and Animal Husbandry merely involve the idea of manipulating live resources through cultivation and domestication, as opposed to the methods of gathering and hunting that preceded them; the concept of eating said resources existed regardlessly. Thus, the revealing of wheat, cattle, sheep, corn, and so on, is justifiable. Horses, on the other hand, are different in that their associated function (transportation, rather than food) was an entirely new concept.

...Since we could seriously use a new screenshot at this point, here's a picture of tragically-placed wheat resource; it's on top of a hill, and happened because of a minor bug in Atlas Map Generator. What makes it so tragic is that, the way the game treats it, it may as well not be there.

Early recoilless model. Worked fine weapon-wise but tended to fling livestock out the other end of the barn when fired. Despite this drawback, it was the ancestor of the modern cowitzer.

Ok, the 'pig-iron' thing was pretty funny, but cowitzer? What's next? Riflemen firing 'buck-shot' from a Deer Park? :D

(edit: Once again, reality is funnier than fantasy. Thx aaronflavour)

And predecessor of the cowapult.(as seen in Monty Python's "The Holy Grail")

The 1st was called the cower. Which was an archer of sorts. They were rarely seen in battle until after their side won....

Civ 4 seems to have trouble saving screenshots when you are in the diplomacy screen.

I get this problem too, what the problem seems to be is that the eyelids are colored either black or white, since it only appears on the leaders whose eyelids cover part of their eyes when they're open (compare Bismarck to Asoka.)

I thought this was a little bizarre. Check out where the barbs placed this city... smack up on the edge of the map.

Not really funny, but I thought this shot was interesting. I never saw the map partially revealed during the intro before.
