Yes, I "read" ugh the manual ... ok ok ... I did a search for "future" and found no reference to "Future Technology". So what is with this future tech? In my current game I researched so far up to "Future Technology 21"... and I have ~30 years to the end of the game!

It seems that there is no end ... and no point to this Future Tech. :crazyeye: or am I being harsh, cruel, and judgemental! LOL! :D

The sole purpose of Future Tech is padding your score. You can shut down science if score is not a priority.

Cool, thx Whelkman.

It was weird though... my SS landed on another planet and the game ended in 2083 with a score of 400. I kept playing anyway and ended up with FT 29.

Shame that you get only one SS ... I wanted to build more and land on more planets and start new civs!!! I guess in the end I just want to rule the universe. :king:

Civilization seems to be all about controlling territory. We capture more territory to build more cities. We build more cities to put those land squares to work.
What do we get from those squares? Food, resources, trade.
Food suppoert population growth so we can put even more squares to work.
Resources build the military to capture even more territory.
Trade translates to luxuries, tax revenue and science.
Luxuries keep your people happy.
Tax revenue pays for the buildings that keep people happy, multiply trade and multiply resources.
Science (eventually) contributes directly to the score.
There is only so much land area. That limits the score that you can get from the population of your cities. Wonders, peace and the spaceship are also limited.
The one aspect of your score that continues to increase without bound is science. That is what Future Tech is good for.

Argentinian ants rule at this game if they know how to play it. And if if would give them some of the above, they would.
