Waste of money, mostly. You get 5 points for each tech learned.

Yeah Future tech just gives you more points to your score. If you've got everything it's usually better to stop research - you'll get more points making citizens happy.

I don't think you can even get a SGL. It certainly is something to look at for Civ4 because it seems unnatural that research would ever stop.

I love playing on harder levels so when I reach future techs I stop researching and collect $$ instead, by this point money is way more valuable then the 5 points you get for FT's, just like fish said above
