Once again, a gauntlet closes and I never did get one done. I hate real life sometimes....

Agreed. I started a few that looked promising and then ran into problems (usually involving crappy change of eras), and then never got around to trying again.
This ones going in the books (or the annex) and the winner by 3 turns and just under the wire is: Aigburth with a 700AD win, Nikodemus came in 2nd with 730AD and Mathias takes 3rd with his 1565AD entry.
