Congratulations go to Marsden for his victory in Psi. We've decided to try something a little different again for the next gauntlet. You may remember that we set a gauntlet last March in honour of Mars that involved submitting a Conquest victory on any map size and any difficulty level with the best dates winning the medals. This time we are trying the same idea but with Domination as the VC and the best score taking the gold.

So, the settings are

* Mapsize: Any
* Difficulty: Any
* Condition: Domination

Best score wins!
Please note that the game must also feature on the updated HOF charts to qualify for this gauntlet.

Good luck to all participants. Games due in by 15th April 2008

Yes, tiny cheiftain isn't the best way to go, this time. Huge Sid seems to be empty ;) That should score big.

Not that I'd ever try it.:blush:

It is best score not best date is it? (I have some half-finished milkruns which could give me a reasonably high score with one settler move).

edit: but after looking at the actual table, I doubt any of them would beat a decent Tiny Deity game.

Yes, highest score instead of fastest date. The tables are fastest finish and will remain so but for this particular Gauntlet the winner is the one with the highest scoring Domination victory entered before the deadline and it must also chart on it's respective fastest finish table.

I submitted a Huge Deity game. Domination in 1796 for 25304 points.

I had intended to milk for another couple of hours but I accidentally dominated. :shake:

Yes, accidentally. :dubious: How convenient unfortunate for you. :pat:

Well, it was accidentally in that MapStat didn't realise it would happen. Still, it means I stopped civving at 10 pm instead of one in the morning. But I stuck on an Earth CD before I went to bed, and man I had some crazy dreams.

Well I should have last place clinched as I submitted a Huge Chieftain domination game as my first submission here. The score was 1701 so just about any other game should beat it. :crazyeye: I didn't even realized it would qualify for the gauntlet until after I had played and submitted it.

I reckon I'll beat that score this weekend. But i'm going to finish it off to improve my Histo ranking. probably means I won't have a submission till next month tho.

Cool, Brennan. I'm going to go back to the drawing board for a new Deity milkrun. I'll probably go as the Iroquois--I was the Dutch in the game I just finished, because I wanted to be "different" but I think really that Commercial is going to help me more than Seafaring did.
Anyroad, that'll have to wait for a little bit, because I'm generating maps as the Russians for the Histo Challenge...I want to try Blitzkrieg rather than max scoring potential (I might even enter stapler territory to finish in time [assuming I can avoid Domination]).

edit: after checking the Histo Challenge thread, the deadline is the start of May, while I thought it was the end of may. My plan now seems hopelessly optimistic.

It's over. Bartleby has won! You don't hear that very often :lol:

His accidental domination for 25304 points in 1796 AD wins. Should have said accidental entries don't count. :mad: :lol:

Next was actually me, Marsden, with an intentional domination in 330 AD for 7924 points. This was less for the gauntlet on my part than wanting a short game after my 400 hour fiasco of a histographic. :wallbash:

In third is zerksees with a 290 AD domination for 2258 points. Welcome back! :wavey:

Honorable mention to Aerinon, who submitted a 980 AD domination for 1701 points. He wasn't trying for the gauntlet either. Sheesh! Maybe we should give zerksees the gold.

Thanks to all participants.

It didn't literally take 400 hours, but the clock said 452:56:45. For all the time I was up and down from it doing the various things I do, cooking, work, what not, that it was about half of that, but that's still sooo long. And all that and I ended up with 26,600. Not bad, but not much impact on my ranking either. Actually, I stayed 10th. My average did go up, but not enough for even 1 rank. So there it is. I'm going to try again, but not too soon. I think I might have actually discovered the cure to civ addiction, play it till you puke, it looses it's luster. I've been wanting to start another serious game but I just can bring myself to start it.

I just want to make it clear, it was my intention to win that game by Domination, I just wanted to milk for a little longer to get a higher score; I was projecting a 2050 AD score of ~52k, based on the milking progression of my DG game and I have a feeling I can do better than that if I start over.
