Well done on this gauntlet - the huge Sid COTM definitely limited my HoF Civ time. Hopefully I can get caught up in the XOTMs and join the next one.

Sorry everyone. Some techincal difficulty. The link will work later, maybe tomorrow. I'll just tell you, it's:

  • Large
  • Diety
  • Diplomatic

If a variant style gauntlet is in demand we could try it out again maybe. Views?

I enjoyed it. I think they have to be relatively short games - I don't think a large AW game would be as popular, for instance, because it would take a long time and would stand very little chance of winning.

If the Hall were expanded to show variants, that would be very interesting... but would also require a lot of work to analyze the games already there.

The 100K variants where you restrict the number of cities so you have to get 20K per city might be interesting - on the higher levels, that would be a serious challenge, too.

I'm not a big fan of variants for gauntlets - when I play a Hall of Fame game, I'm trying to place as high as I can in the table, and get a date that won't be easy to beat. Any variant is going to make the game more difficult, so it should be easily beatable by someone not bound to the variant restrictions.

I understand a challenge issued by someone to get the fastest date in a particular variant could be fun, but I'm not really sure what that has to do with the Hall of Fame.

Agree with Chamnix, I would also prefer the gauntlets to be normal games without variant restrictions.
