Standard Hall of Fame rules (*) still apply, but any games meeting the settings will be counted towards the Gauntlet.

• Required: One City Challenge, Raging Barbarians
• Opponents: Any
• Version: SV8
• Date: 16th April to 1st May 2013

The earliest finish date wins, with score as a tiebreaker.

Looks like honor might be best here.

One City Challenge makes things easier, sort of, with instant razing.

Terra makes the starting continent smaller than a regular pangea.

Ranging barbs keeps the AI in check.

Jags are a nice warrior replacement.

Seems perfect for some fast standard/standard dom victory times.

This is a Gauntlet suggestion from Vexing.

• standard standard aztec terra culture, occ and raging barbarians checked, prince or king
  terra + raging barbs creates a continent of heaven for aztec jaguars upgraded. it should be a lot of fun.

This looks fun! I've started a game with a nice desert start as a benchmark for further tries. I took Tradition first, but I think maybe opening Honor and then going tradition might be better, to get the huge boost in the early game. I'm going random opponents, but I might pick them next try.

Anyone have a ballpark idea of how many turns is a good target?

Don't forgot to disable start bias if you do try....

So for the domination games that got sent in (for clarity I didn't sumbit or attempt one before the change) are they going up against the culture ones? Because that will mean this gauntlet is already likely won...

No problem, don't worry about it. I only spent an hour on the game, and it's absurd to try to beat a turn 66 win with culture.

I find the 'next to a mountain' part the most annoying for the necessary observatory. They should really change that to a mountain within 2-3 tiles in your culture borders...similar to Machu Picchu.

So many good desert/river starts wasted with no mountains in sight.

Imo Observatory is not a must for a cultural game (on standard or quick speed at least). It is definately an advantage, but not a big one and you can play competitive games without it. It pretty much only helps you get Broadcasts a little sooner, everything else that is important will be just the same. And later stuff wont get unlocked at all before its over anyway, maybe Cristo Redendor might, but I doubt it.

I'd agree with this. On prince you can get enough of the wonders to finish before a lot of the end stuff.

On the other hand, all else being equal, the observatory will shave at least 1 turn.
