G-Minor V

I think that was my last try for this Gauntlet. Finally managed to get below 130 turns. Had a nice start with marble and plenty of food. There were no fancy wonders like El Dorado, but there were four mostly friendly neighbours. No one was stupid enough to break a RA, but I think that was thanks to England, who was everyone's enemy after the first batch of RAs. England even attacked me, which netted me 1k gold :) I was in a constant battle for happiness which held back growth in the capital. That could have saved me 2-3 turns. One well timed RA in the end would have given me a chance to go below 120... but noone had cash to make any deals and I had no cash to sign that one agreement. Still mostly flawless gameplay except for one moment, when I accidentaly bought a barrack - I was thinking of buying the university.

Had something odd happen to me in my current game. Hiawatha declares on me, we fight for 15-20 turns or so, I force him to make peace and give me lots of gold and such, and the very next turn he DoWs me again. This some kind of bug? I would have thought the treaty would have forced him not to declare.

The only thing I can think of is that he couldn't sustain the terms of the peace treaty (I forced him to give up all gold and gpt and luxuries) and thus it broke the treaty in and of itself.

finished turn 122.
without too much detail, you just need 3 sets of RAs, then time it so on same turn as last RAs fire you get scientific revolution and can pop a few GS + oxford, and use a GE on UN.

personally i engaged in no wars... i got lucky with military CS quests, so they provided an army, and i only had one really close neighbor. i got him into two separate wars after signing last batch of RAs.

some aspects may surprise you =)

Very nice job indeed.

The starting position was really amazing :) At first glance it seemed so bad. Did You choose low sea level? It seems so. In my single city attempts the other continent was always so far away..

yes, low sea level. the idea was more space = less chance of conflict, and should be able to find the other civs on continent in time for initial round of RAs regardless

Indeed. I was thinking of it too, but never got around to test it. The scout is so much cheaper to build or buy when compared to the caravel too.
