Anyone playing this? It is basically Age of Kings but with Star Wars units. There are air units and more of a focus on ranged combat too.

Six factions: Rebels, Empire, Trade Federation, Gungans, Wookies, Royal Naboo.

Decent scenarios and the game is a good diversion, even if it is just a remake of AOK

Too bad I didn't see that thread earlier :(
Anyway, yeah I tried it. Although it was quite criticized by magazines, I keep on thinking it's a good game, at least much better than SWFC. Well to be honest, few LucasArts games could be worse then FC :D
Nevertheless, since I never played AoE 1 nor 2, so I didn't notice how much it looked like these 2 games :)

What is SWFC? I am trying to think of bad star wars games I have played (haven't played them all), and the only one I can come up with is Rebellion. Great in concept, poor in excecution.

Oh, now I remember, Force Commander or something like that. Yeah, I didn't get that game because I generally don't like RTS and it didn't look too good.

It was called Force Commander and it was a good idea but I think it was too limited to succeed. There was not enough variation in the maps and games like Shogun have far suppased it in the 3D RTS market.

I don't like SWBG because its more like a MOD for a certain other game that I really like. I had this discussion on another board and I thought up quite a few similarities between the games and AOK still has more variation in the number of Civs you can choose (13 in AOK and 18 with the expansion).

Btw Ranged weapons were very important in AOK. Its virtually impossible to win without trebuchets or cannons in the later ages in multiplayer. Also Janissaries are the best unique unit and they are ranged (Just play a castle blood game and you will see).
