GalCiv2 Multiplayer Poll on GC2 Main Site

The long wait for GalCiv2 MP is over!!!!!

Today a Friend and I figured out how to play GC2 MP, its simple I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner.

Here's what you need to do,

1st- custom build you're ships
2nd- Find a high quality printer and print out you're ships
3rd- Fold them into a paper airplanes
4th- And let the fun begin, the last ship to stay in the air is the winner!!!

P.S- Brad if you read this I expect a hefty Royalty if you implement this Feature in any future Expansion!!! ;)

Good One. I seriously hope that if not enough people say Yes to MP and MP idea gets scrapped that we won't see endless spawns of people beating the dead MP horse again.

As the poll looks now, approx ~1500 people have voted and its about 2:1 saying NO.

Everyone should voice their opinion on the matter.

I agree- a definite decission, disregarding for or against, would be the best case option. Not sure though what mark they set for it to be regarded as profitable. 2:1 means merely aproximatly one third of voters would go for it. Lets see what they, the makers decide...

I wouldn't be surprised if some people at Firaxis know my Anagram pretty well...

Not really, you were "ignore listed" long ago :mischief:

Civ4 has sold a lot more.

I'm certain you're right but I just had an odd thought. Which game has the most profit per $ invested (rate of return) I wonder?

How do PC games of this type compare with other similar entries in terms of profitability?

That's why we'd need to know the sales (amongst other) figures. Would indeed be interesting- not odd at all :)

That is a good question. That type of information is almost never available (company confidential and all that).

Pretty poor, I'd imagine. That's why you see very few TBS games and lots of FPS and sports games.

I'm not against multiplayer. EVERY other game I've developed for Windows has had multiplayer.

But I am also keenly aware of the amount of work involved to develop AND support it.

Turn based strategy games, IMO, do not make for great multiplayer experiences to begin with.

Incidentally, to the person who said "every TBS has had multiplayer" I would remind them that Civilization's expansion packs that had multiplayer were mostly about the multiplayer and cost (especially in today's dollars) more than $20.

The poll in question asked whether people would be willing to pay $20 for a multiplayer expansion pack.

Well, an entire tech branch would be pointless in MP, the Diplomacy one. I never played multiplayer in any version of Civ, and don't miss it in GalCiv2 either.

First of all a big thanks to Brad for taking the trouble to post over here :) Would have been a nice closing statement for this thread...

@Pentium: Diplomacy tech would definitly still be required for AI-controlled races during MP games.

However, you are saying you don't miss MP since you never even tried it in such games? - hmmm... that kinda reminds me of my 7yo nephew when he is told to eat his soup- he always argues he doesn't like it without even having tried it first- no pun intended. Anyways, this thread had been dormant for a few weeks, I think there isn't anything to be adressed at this stage...
