I have played both civ1 and civ2 in the past and I started playing Civ3 about 2 days ago and I'm havig such a tough time figuring out how to load my galley with units. In civ2 you would just say go upload and it's done. With all the interface changes I can't find half of the things I use to find on civ2. Is it just me or other civ fanactis out there feel the same about all the interface changes. Mind you I really like all the new AI functions built onto this version.

Cheers

If your units that you want to load in a cargo-type ship are in the city at the same time that the ship is in the city, there should be a "load" icon on the screen when any ground unit is active. Click it, and the unit is loaded. Once a ship is moving with the units, there are at least two ways to unload it. One is to push the ship so that it "bumps" into land; you will get a menu for unloading some, all, or none of the loaded units. The other way that I am sure of is to right click on the loaded ship, then activate the sleeping unit. If it is beside land, it can then move onto land.

One thing that might also work for loading is to use the mouse "click and hold on a place" method while pointing to a ship. I don't use that method for moving much, so I'm not promising anything until I check it out. Good luck.

doesn't it still work the same way?? you just move the unit into the square the galley ( or ship ) is on, and it will move in... i'm pretty sure that's the way i did it.

The old way works too, move your ship out of the city and move units onto it. I usually stockpile units that I plan to use in naval invasions outside cities, for easier recognition.

Not sure about the rest of it, but Galleys only hold two units, so you couldn't fit a settler, worker AND warrior. But you should just be able to guide your units directly on to the galley just as though it were a land tile. I've never used the load feature, I just move the unit manually on to whatever ship I want.
