Hi all,
like many, I'm super frustrated about all the crashes I get while playing Civ 5.
System specs:
Gateway FX6840
8GB RAM
Intel Core i7 CPU, 860@2.8GHz 2.8GHz
Windows 7 64-bit OS
ATI Radeon HD 5700 series video card (drivers up to date)
Almost all of my crashes occur when I've got a pretty full world - lots and lots of cities and resource improvements. Most frequently, I get a crash as the game is auto-moving from one location to another and scrolling over the landscape.
Is there any way to turn that feature off? It must take an insane amount of memory/resources to pan over a full landscape, I'm sure that if the game would just move instantly from one location to another the crashes would disappear.
I've tried adjusting the level of detail, but doing so doesn't seem to have any affect.
My computer is fairly new and highish-end, so I'm really disappointed about the performance that I'm getting. When I play Civ I make sure that there are pretty much 0 other programs running. I haven't even bothered trying a world size bigger than "large" (one setting above standard) - I even get crashes on standard size!
