I recently started playing Civ 5 again after not having played it for around a year, and have now been running into the issue that the game crashes about every 50-100 turns on the barbarian turn. My play time in Civ 5 before this was more than 200 hours, and I've never had this issue until now.
I googled the issue, and found reports of people saying that it crashed during the barbarian turn, but only on specific turns or with specific civilizations. For me, however, the crashes seem to be random. Whenever the crash happens, the game doesn't actually freeze or crash directly to desktop, so the game stays open and I can still move around the cursor. I just can't do anything and the game doesn't progress past the barbarian turn. And when I try to Alt+Tab out of the game, I just get a black screen I can't get out of, and have to reset my PC. When I then load up the game, it will restart me after the barbarian turn where it previously crashed. So the game seems to finish processing the turn, and crash afterwards.
I've already done a clean re-install, and have rebooted multiple times, but nothing seems to help. The only mod I'm using is Enhanced User Interface. I'd appreciate any help someone can give me.
