Game Crashes when changing specialists

I seem to be having some kind of error with civil engineers and specialists in general.

When this problem first started, I noticed that when I switched from a scientist to a civil engineer, the civil engineer face did not appear, only the two shields at the bottom, I clicked the specialist again to try to fix it and the game crashed

Often after capturing a city, I will see lots of resisting citizens, then the rest as workers and entertainers, but sometimes there is a scientist. If I try to change that scientist to anything else, the game crashes.

This has been happening in my last 2 games, and I find it only happens once I am in the industrial era and have the ability to use civil engineers. Not sure why it is happening and why it started. Just began happening out of the blue one day.

The game doesn't actually just crash, it black screens, then minimizes to desktop, with the windows error of civ 3 performing an illegal operation. The game also won't close after, I have to manually terminate it in task manager.

(and I have tried removing my graphics mods, it still happens)

Make sure you're using the popheads for C3C. Vanilla/PTW won't work.

thanks! I downloaded a different version and it worked! I thought I disabled the popheads when I tested with my graphics mods off, but I must have missed it.
