Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this as it just started happening in my most recent game. Im headed out now but will upload .sav files later. I searched crash on this forum but didnt find any helpful threads. The issue is, from where i save within the next 5 turns if i try to tell a ship to start a new trade route, it will either crash the game that turn or the turn after. I am playing as portugal on small continents epic speed if it matters. Could this have something to do with portugals trade route multiplier per resource bonus? anyone else encountered this issue? Ive tried reloading a few time but havent been succesful, i will experiment more later and maybe just try killing all my trade routes if it persists.

I've not had any problems with trade routes; and I'm playing Venice. (And so currently running 12 trade routes)

Is America in your game? There's a report that America can cause a game crash by unearthing an artifact outside their boundary.

Nope no Washington, Assyria Polynesia Venice the iriquois the shoshone and boudicca. Its interesting you mention the artifacts outside ones territory causing an issue with washington b/c i just recently started digging up artifacts in no ones borders. Im about to try and see if i cant get past the point by halting my trade ships or see if something else altogether is causing it

So the save file is attached to this post. I am on turn 474 and by the end of turn 476/beginning of turn 477 right between city state and barbarian movement seems to be when it will crash. I did get all the way to 479 the first time i had the problem but havent been able to since. I tried not sending out new trade ships and a couple other variations. I also went back four turns to my 470 autosave and the same issue occurred. Im now going to go back to the autosave before that one and see if the same thing occurs. I really hate to give up on this game because all things considered its going pretty well. And also portugal's trade bonus is beast, i had 3 sea trade routes going and was pulling in 250gold per turn. if this test fails however I am going to try starting a new game to make sure the issue is not somehow with my system. I know the game played fine before because i won a game of BNW as poland.

As an aside, I tried re-loading an autosave from turn 460 and had the crash happen, however it was interesting to note it happened before turn 470 even seemingly a set amount of turns after i load any file in the game it crashes. I also just sped through 60 turns of a new game as pocatello and had zero issues so I dont think its my system. If someone would care to give me advice on what the issue might be or how to solve this id love you long time. Very annoying since the game was just starting to pick up and I was really enjoying my amazing trade bonus and special caravels. Also thank you sid meiers for the free copy of civilization 4 in payment for your goof up on the sale. If you prepurchased the expansion at the 10% off price check your steam inventory youll probably have a copy of CivIV since apparently they decided to drop the price even lower during the steam sale

I am having the exact same problem. For me, the game crashes in turn 270, after I built a caravan a couple of turns earlier. I'm not happy with how my Polish Empire came to an end! :(

EDIT: Deleting the caravan does not help. Then the game just crashes during the barbarians' next turn.

I had a trade route crash with totally different symptoms.. when ever I would mouse over the trade section in the top bar my game would freeze. I could make new units and assign expired routes but mouse over up top and bam! reloaded and replicated; completed the game by being careful with the mouse.

Hello all of you,

I'm falling in love with civ5 too and playing currently with the communitas modpack 4.23 (beta)> I'm meeting exatly the same bug at the turn 477 to 478 and I think it's for the same reasons.

Have you found a solution for that ? It is terrible to have to stop a game for a bug like this.

Thank you in advance for your ideas !

You mean Vox Populi / Community Balance Patch, right? (I do not mean to lecture you, just making sure you do not mean the Communitas mod (which was great, but is not being supported anymore).

Also are you saying that your game crashes when you select a caravan? Or when you send it to a foreign city? I have never had such problem with CBP, but when I tried the EUI version on a huge map, the trade route overview screen started lagging in mid game and then I started getting crashes in late game, when the huge world was crowded with cities, so I had to stop using the trade route screen.

I have never had a problem like this with the non-EUI version or on smaller maps.

Anyway, I would suggest to post this on CBP GitHub - it is stickied in the CBP forum. I think they will ask you to turn on logging, repeat the action when you get the crash and then send them lua.log.

If you want to save your game, you can fiddle with the IGE mod and try deleting the caravan and then creating a new one etc. - it could fix it.
