Game Crashing...

2 questions... Do play the expansion of Civ4 do i need to click the beyond the sword or warlords icons or will clicking the civ4 icon load all the epansions??


OK CRASHING PROBLEM -

I click Cv4 Beyond the Sword and it loads plays movie and options pop up, i click single player and custom game and then i do the tings i want... Then i clikc Launch and the Game crashes..... WHY IS IT DOING THIS

I retryed to get some more info on crash - It intializes, loads players, then it crashes on or right after MAPsetup or something

you need to use the shortcut for each of the expansions to launch the right one.
Regarding the crash: does windows ask you to send an error report? If so please click on show report and post the upper part of it especially the file name it cites.
Also please open your
...\users\<name>\my games\beyond the sword\civilizationIV.ini and change every setting with "log" in its name (all near the end of the file) from 0 to 1 and then start the game, crash it and post a zip file with all contents of your ...\users\<name>\my games\beyond the sword\logs directory here.
Does Warlords or Civ4 crash as well?

WOW, THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE.... IVE ACCTUALlly uninstalled all the expansion packs and civ 4 and i am rebooting and gonna reinstall files... Wish me luck, and if this doesnt work ill do your way!

could you please explain what happens (i.e. when does this error occur?)
Edit: this is an Installshield error apparently caused by a full or inaccessible Temp directory (how full is you harddisk?) - it may be possible to get rid of it by deleting the content of your .../WINDOWS/Temp directory also you might want to use the defrag tool of windows prior to reinstalling.

FINAL UPDATE -


Ive rebooted my computer back to factory settings.... Im currently terrified to ad the Beyond the Sword and Warlord Expansion because the original Civs4 works!!! So i think im gonna stick with this unless you can explain to me what the best way to Install expansions are.... Like Should i defrag, should i delete saved games, should..... Hmm just help me please!

i have the same issue - upon loading the game the screen goes blank and then goes back to windows

the error report said the following thing

open the following file:
users\<name>\my games\beyond the sword\civilizationIV.ini
and change the following value to 1:

; Set to 1 for no intro movie
NoIntroMovie = 0

yes i did do that along with alot of other quick fixes ive seen out there... The update is though my game is working now and its playing great occasionally the screen blinks but its nothing i cant work around... I do still on the other hand have Warlords exp and im afraid to install it maybe it might mess me up again
