Game freezing since last patch

Problem: Game is freezing after playing for 30-60 minutes. A hard restart is required, Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't work.

-I checked the event log and it lists nothing unusual.

-This has only started happening since the last patch. This may not be the cause, but I was able to previously play BNW with no problem.

-I have checked the PC for overheating and can find no evidence of this. Other games play fine for hours.

-When it originally started happening, I was resuming pre-patch savegames and I thought maybe a game saved with the old version was hanging up on something with the new. This week, I started a new game and played an hour with no problem. Today, I resumed that game and played maybe 20 mins before a freeze. Could it have to do with saved games? My original freezing saves had infoaddict as the only mod. This week's game has no mods.

-Today, after my freeze, I verified my game cache and deleted my autosaves (none were over ~1GB). We'll see if that makes any difference. My display drivers are only a month or two old - I can check for updates but I am not confident that's the issue. I have installed no new hardware.

I don't know if this is causing the issue, but is there any way to get 8 Gig of RAMM, into the computer?

A) Yes, but if I'm going to pay for 4 more gig of RAM, I'm going to go the whole new motherboard, new CPU route. I don't want to pay for more RAM now and then chuck it in a few months when I do a full overhaul.

B) I have been playing Civ 5 on this machine since the day it was released. The only upgrade has been a video card, and that card played Civ 5 for a very long time before these lockups began. I have played quite a bit of BNW without any freezes, so I don't think it's due to adding in BNW. So I'm not inclined to think it's RAM.

Have you verified the local cache in steam? Keep doing it until it says all file successfully verified. If you have to do it more than once, then you are getting file corruption and if everything has been working fine, then it would seem that you are overworking your swap file. If it finds no "corrupted" files, then the only other thing (I can think of) would be over heating issues.

I verified the cache after the last freeze and I will update my video drivers as well. so I need to test that.

I ran a temperature monitor on the CPU and GPU, not during Civ, but Far Cry 3 and found my temperature was rock-solid.

Tonight I updated my graphic drivers and loaded the same save game that locked up on me the other day.

I changed the game resolution from 1920 to 1600, windowed (so I could watch the temperature monitor). I played for an hour and a half without a freeze- the GPU temp was rock solid at 61C and the CPU cores were in the mid-40s the whole time. So unless the slightly smaller resolution was the deciding factor, I can't believe I was overheating.

Unfortunately I changed a lot since my last freeze - deleted autosaves, verified cache, and updated my graphics drivers - so I can't be sure what was causing it. Hopefully I stay freeze free from here on out, but I think I've ruled out heat issues.

I'm having a similar problem, but somewhat different:

Every time I start a new game, the game crashes after I click on "begin your journey". Doesn't matter if I'm in windowed mode or full screen, only been having this problem since the most recent patch (my game updated yesterday). Anybody else have a similar issue, or know how to resolve this?

I have the same problem since 2 days I was modding then I've finished something and wanted to try my mod, the game crash at start, sometimes I reach the mods button then crash... I don't know what make the game to crash. I've made steam verify the integrity of the game, reinstall the game and nothing works.
