Game hangs when i hit end turn.

Your save file doesn't crash for me at the end of the turn. However, I did notice two problems with the file:

1. The graphics for the captured Pirate bases are corrupt.
2. When I contact Svensgaard, I get a message that something is wrong with the faction text file.

I started a new game as Aki-Zeta that included Sven. I didn't get the error msg when I contacted Sven. Your Pirates.txt file may be damaged or contain invalid entries. I suggest that you restore it from the installation CD. That probably won't fix the current game, though.

Also, if you have a dual-core system, it's normal for SMAX to use 50% of the CPU. It uses 100% on single-core systems.
 
See the attached thumbnail for the msg I get when contacting Sven. Looking at your save file in a hex editor, the string "cheat" actually appears near some material for Aki. Have you modified cyborg.txt? Another problem I noticed is that when I loaded the game, I was shown the graphic for Deidre, not Aki.

I added a new faction called cheat using cybernetic graphic set. Its not cyborg.txt though, its saved to cheat.txt.

I get none of those weird graphic issues when i load my save game though.
 
See attached thumbnail for the msg I see when contacting Miriam. It appears that your cheat faction is causing these issues. Did you create it using the faction editor (facedit.exe) that comes with the game? If so, that could be the source of the crash.

Yea i created it using the faction editor, but i never encountered any of those problems(incorrect graphics, etc).
 
I'm guessing that the faction editor corrupted either your alphax.txt or cyborg.txt. The faction editor is known to be buggy. If you post those files here, I'd be glad to take a look at them.
 
Im not using cyborg.txt though...and after i created cheat.txt and used it in that game, i made some changes to it in the faction editor.

Heres the files though. I dont understand how the saved game works...i made changes to cheat.txt in the faction editor but those changes carry over to the saved game. But its not carrying over when you load the file, so it obviously requires cheat.txt in some form.

I'm not so great at modding issues, but I do see at least one problem with your Alphax.txt file. Your #CUSTOMFACTIONS section has this entry:

cheat

It should be

cheat, cheat

When I copied cheat.txt into my SMAC folder and modified Alphax.txt as shown above, I no longer saw the odd error msgs when contacting other factions. So in your save game, you're playing with the cheat faction, not the cyborgs. For future reference, you really need to mention that a save game incorporates a custom faction. :)

I don't know why your game is crashing. It might have to do with the custom faction, but I would have expected to see problems earlier if that was the case.

Kilkakon and vyeh know lots about creating custom factions. Perhaps one of them will drop by and take a look.
 
Petek's right about you missing a second "cheat" line in your alphax.txt file. Fixing it now may or may not fix your current save due to the fact that the save contains some game data. Worth a shot though!

The Cheat faction looks okay enough although obviously made using the FacEdit program... the diplomacy text responses are dodgy. Easy fix here is to copy and paste the Cyborg ones back in (there should be two lines of text, one per response).

Doesnt seem to have stopped the hanging though. Too bad the game has no logfiles or anything to see what exactly is causing it to hang...
