How long can a game of civilizations III last and what is the maximum years you can go up to.

A game can last anywhere form 1-10 hours or more. The number of turns can be set by you if you have [c3c]. If you don't, it is 540, but you can play longer if you want.

There was a thread recently on the amount of time it takes to complete a game in Civ3 general discussions. Its probabl still on the first or second page.

There's really no answer... it depends on map size, difficulty level, how much you micro-manage, automate, get into wars and probably a lot of other factors.

For me if I play an epic game on Monarch / Large map it is around 30-40 hours. If I played Warlord / Standard map and used the governors and automated workers I could probably be done in about 5 hours.

So far the longest a game has taken me is 2 weeks, (Im trying hard to beat that record with the one Im on now though). I try to avoid TOO much micro manageing but since I just got into doing it at all, it's made my games take WAY longer, but in the end I've found it to be more satisfying.

Ive played a game for a whole day straight and I still have a lot to go.

The shortest game lasts only 3 seconds. But it is modded. Start on a land with only mountains. When you start, just press enter and all other civs, seeing there is no land to settle, disband there settler and die. You're the last one standing -> conquest victory in 3950 BC. And a very high score, but very limited game-pleasure.

The longest: well, we are currently playing a game where 10 turns took about 18 hours. It can last as long as you want.

Actually, the shortest random map game is also 3 seconds.

Start, find that you are surrounded by jungle, press Ctrl-Shift-Q, but type Ctrl-Q instead, and you retire. :D
