Game Too Sting with Strategic Resources - Especially Aluminum

i like playing duel earth games with 18-19 players, +20 civ states as i like tight small intensely hot games with lots of strategy and war. unfortunately even with abundant selected there is no aluminum, or coal, but tons of luxuries. i'd rather see the resources be there, instead of luxuries. The aluminum restriction is stupid anyway, it's the most abundant mineral resource on the planet. anybody else have this problem with aluminum?

If you don't like the scarcity of resources there's a button for that when you set up game. Abundant resources simply gives more strategic resource per node (for example instead of 2 iron you might get 10). I don't think abundant resources just places more strategic and luxury bonuses. So if you want a better start with more bonuses in your starting city play legendary start.

Isn't this the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust; why is it so bloody hard to find?

Aluminum is ~8 percent of the crust, but much of that is chemically bonded to silicas such as feldspar, and therefore too difficult to separate. Aluminum hydroxide minerals are the main source of aluminum, and they're found in rock such as bauxite. About 30 percent of the world's bauxite comes from Australia, with Brazil, China, and Indonesia combined contributing another 40 percent. sourcepdf

I didn't realize until finding this threat that resource hexes might vary in the "quantity" of resource, in contrast to Civ IV. Thanks, War Academy!

Just pick no starting bias you will see that you will have acces to iron in some games and the AI sometimes don't or olso
