Haven`t played for a while, now it freezes after opening movie and "continue". Windows 7.

I had this problem. Verify Integrity of Game Cache was an easier solution than reinstalling - worked for me. details on how to do that are:
- go into steam library,
- right click on Civ5
- choose Properties (at bottom)
- go to Local Files tab (in the middle)
- click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache
For me, it took a few minutes, then decided that the cache was not verifiable, and said it would "reacquire the file". It didn't appear to do anything though. I waited a minute and still nothing was happening, I guess it had already acquired the file because when I tried restarting Civ 5 everything worked great - the game even came up faster (less time waiting in the movie) - bonus!
