As Fallblau pointed out, there are many reasons for doing so, including not wearing out a CD, simplicity of not having to exchange disks, etc. If you are truly a Civ aficionado, you should be well aware of the number of hours that poor disk spins in the average addict's computer. For my part, I use GameDrive mainly because I am on the road quite a bit and dont like to carry myriad computer disks while I travel.
I might also add that before you question someones integrity over a $40 game, you might do the basic research to answer your own accusation. Might I suggest you google GameDrive and read the manufacturers ideas on why people buy their product?
