It is so annoying that the game's speed is slowed down that much when you enter the naval battle screen. Is there a way to speed up this phase ?

you could try moving the world detail slider to the left.
Under video options.

An hardware solution doesn't work for me, as I play on a computer much faster than necessary. The game speed is good when in normal view, with more details than the naval battle view. Is there a way to software-speed up the pace, like in Corsairs you could press + or - to change the speed of the game ? Or is there something in a config file that we could manually change ?

When you move the world detail slider down, that is the software solution.

We are all surprised by how inefficient the programming in this game is that it manages to be slow on machines that should be able to run three such games simultaneously. Let's hope that the patch fixes some of these issues.

My problem is that it's only when entering the naval battle screen that it is too slow (it is quite playable, but it makes me want to avoid some battles sometimes). When in the world map, it goes just fine, when in storms you sometimes even go too fast...
I wonder what makes specific the naval battle view. I would really be surprised that a computer that has 3 times the recommanded configuration is the real problem. I'll try to have a look in the game's data to see if I can find something about it. May be a bit ambitious... :crazyeye:

I think it is a programming problem. My computer runs the game perfectly well, but the troops move really slowly in the land battle scenes and I have to really zoom in close to have them move a bit faster (less world detail visible, so it gets faster).

Also, what kind of a ship are you using? Could it be that you are simply unsatisfied with the natural slowness of the larger craft and you should try using the sloops or the pinnaces to see some faster manouvering and action?

At first, I was using a brig of war, but I thought it might have been the reason why it was going so slow. Now I use a sloop, but even with that it is still quite low. I think I will use your zoom method.

I have the same problem. My computer has more than enough power to run the game, but battle scene is still very very slow. slower than it should be, that is. The game runs very smoothly everywhere but in battle scene.

I agree. Very slow sometimes. Especially when you hit a ship with your cannons and some of its crews jumps overboard. For some reason, you cannot move to the crew, and you are sailing in 1 knot, or -1 knot, even with the fastest ship. I have no idea why, but this is annoying, and it makes me get hit alot by the other ship that can just blast away at me til death due us part. Also I agree that the battle scenes (when attacking a city) is very slow.

In naval battle, I tend to use frigates and I found out ships tend to move much faster from east to west than west to east. So try to start the naval battle when your ship is on the east side of the enemy ship such that when going into naval battle view, your ship will move west to catch up the enemy ship.

I was wondering if the game would run well with a system under the minimum requirememnts(but with a better video card)...

I guess I'll buy the Xbox version.
