This is a 160x160 (huge) map based on data from actual scans of Jupiter's largest moon, Ganymede. It imagines a terraformed world with a 50% sea coverage (and some scientific licence in that even after terraforming, Ganymede wouldn't have fossil fuel deposits).

Because of the large amount of land, the game rules have been altered to halve corruption levels; empires should therefore be able to grow larger before they run out of steam.

Warning: there's enough land here to hit the limit on the maximum number of cities, and things can get quite slow in the later stages.

Here's a picture of it:

Note that this map was created using the Civ3 Conquests editor, so if you don't have the Conquests expansion you're not going to be able to load it.

Have fun!

Very good idea ! :goodjob: Actually, I'm disappointed I didn't think about it before. Mmmmh, giving me some ideas.

It's the third part of a trilogy (I did Venus and Mars before).

The 2005 Cassini-Huygens mission has provided data for Saturn's Titan, which I'd probably have done next if it weren't for the imminent arrival of Civ4...

Awesome, I love planetary maps (I think I have your Venus and Mars ones).

Would the map suck if there were 70% water coverage on the map, like it sort of is on Earth?

Very interesting... Once I was thinking of the possibility of fictional scenarios, like for example a "Europa" underwater mod, supposing that the theory that lies an ocean under the surface of the Jupiter's moon is correct (I never tried it because there aren't any appropriate units around). Titan would also make a very good aspect. I believe that it was mapped recently.

No, it wouldn't suck; it may even be better. Basically, you'd have a northern circumpolar continent and a southern circumpolar continent with some island chains stringing between them. The main issues would concern having too much tundra and not enough desert and jungle.

Indeed - most impressive. I like it a lot! :goodjob:

I see. Hmmm, food for thought!
