Vortilex
Imperator Mundi
This isn't specifically Civ-related, but it happens a lot when I want to play Civ.
Here's the scenario: I'm loading Civ when my parents have told me not to.
So I mute the computer as it loads when I decide to leave my room to get a drink or something like that. When I press the mute button on my keyboard, it stays blue, indicating the volume is on. I then try to mute it with the start tab, or whatever the bar at the bottom of the screen is called. When I click the volume control to mute it there, nothing happens. Then it tells me that Windows Explorer isn't responding. I have to either close or restart the program to fix that. It can take up to 10 tries before it displays the volume control again. If I press the mute button or any of the other volume controls, it freezes again.
This is annoying because if it happens, my parents will walk by and hear the 2K music when it starts up and look in to see why it's playing. Since the Civ startup prevents me from changing screens until it reaches the main menu, I'm busted and they make me use someone else's computer for schoolwork to see what I'm actually doing
Does anyone know why my computer won't let me mute? This is a problem only when a program is already loading (i.e. Civ, Chrome, iTunes) and is actually doing something, like a YouTube video or the Civ Startup. If I mute when I'm simply on CFC or when nothing's loading, it mutes fine.
My computer is a Windows Vista Home Premium Original Hp Pavilion dv6920la Notebook PC with a T2390 Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor
