i've come across an error while playing CIV 2, just after i've started a game and i try to move my settler

CIV 2 caused a General Protection Fault in module CIV2.EXE
at 003E:69B1

Choose close. CIV 2 will close

i have no idea what this means...does anyone know what to do to stop this error occuring so i can actually play the game?

GPF usually means some kind of memory fault - often a clash with either another program running in the background or with a driver (video being the most common) - things you could try:-

1.stop any background programs (things like anti-virus especailly)

2.make sure you have the most up to date sound and video drivers for your system - often this cures a lot of problems.

If these don't work...

3.remove and reinstall civ2

4.defragment your hard drive

5.post you pc specs and operating system details here - that may provide a clue
