General Scenario question

Not having picked up Civ3 or PTW for at least a year now, Im a little behind in what's been going on with the games, so forgive me if this is an old question. As I recall, the thing that bothered me the most was that scenarios that had been created by the community were shackled somewhat by the vanilla edition, and by PTW- in that they always started at 4000 B.C., could not set up relationships between CIvs before, and so forth. AS it happens, I was at another forum where someone mentioned this had been fixed a while back, so Scenarios could resemble those in Civ 2- where a maker could set up pretty much everything. If so, is a simply a question of patching the original and PTw (to 1.27 and 1.21 respectively), or is there something else I should do ?

The newest expansion, Conquests, has 9 scenarios made by Firaxis on the CD (along with 7 new civs--plus the 8 from Play the World if you do not already have that--as well as a host of other fan-made maps and scenarios). The editor included with it also expands upon what could be done with the previous editors. Also, if you visit the Creation & Customization section of these forums, you can find a lot more fan-made stuff. Hope this helps.

Note there still are no scripted events in C3, but aside from that, you can now do pretty much everything you could in C2 - and the best thing is: In C3, it actually works reliably !
