Played tons of civ 6 and v, and a lot of other strategy games. So far ive played two games: hatsheput with egypt-abbasids -russia on release version, and recently pachacuti with maya-aztec-mexico on 1.1(sovereign). While the game is still a bit rough around the edges, I like quite a few concepts they introduced. My main gripe with it is that so many things are obfuscated and difficult to properly assess. So made some notes and decided to ask stuff here about what is still not clear. got a lot of questions, so strap in:

Towns and cities. I understand the basic concept, that you want a 1/1 ratio usually. However in terms of deciding what becomes a city and what stays a town. ive heard prioritise production to decide which one to upgrade, but doesnt stuff like distance and proximity also factors in?What happens to food from a town that cant really reach a city?
Regarding specialisation, thats fairly obvious, but are there any scenarios where you switch specialisations between ages? Like from a fishing to a mine town? Otherwise I dont understand why it resets.
Likewise, is there any proper reason to change your capital aside from it giving you two cities in the next age instead of one?

As for cities themself, what is the general building guideline to follow? If I'm correct you want to stack ageless buildings together so you can overbuild the other ones. But how do you decide which buildings to put together in a quarter? and are there differences between a single building and a fully build quarter? Do you want to group up certain buildings? if yes, which ones. I find it very difficult to discern which buildings are from which age, which has locked me out of my unique district at times.

As for overseas settlements, do they have to be coastal to be able to send treasure fleets back? Is it possible to have an inland town who sends the resources to a coastal town/city? Also for overseas settlements, is there no possibility to get them connected to a railroad/factory, or what am I missing?

When switching ages, what exactly is kept? I know units in commanders are saved, but it seems they get mixed up? What exactly else is kept? At what point do you stop building usefull stuff? And how do you decide what civ to pick? So far ive mostly went with the historical paths. There just seem to be a large disparity between the viability of different civs. The ones with unique quarters seem to be more powerfull. The unique improvement as russia didnt do much for mefor example. Regarding civics, is there a way to preview them?
I know everybody gets a bonus towards a particular wonder, but do you also unlock them earlier? I could build Machhu Pichhu before I had unlocked it...

As for great people, what exactly determines their limit and when you can recruit them?

I dont tend to do a lot of warfare, but I do have a few questions about commanders. What determines their XP gain? Ive seen them gain both 1 and 2 xp from attacks, but Its not clear to me where the difference comes from

I end with two technical questions: sometimes the game stops responding a few minutes after launch, a restart of the pc usually helps, but I dont know why. Secondly, I bought the upgrade to deluxe edition, but I dont have the deluxe content pack?

EDIT: forgot to ask, which YT has the best guides. I found One More Turn but the videos are overly long
