Getting food into a mining town

aha, well..u can get that west tile from u're other city, irrigate ALL hills. And later on maybe something will come up that allows growth..perhaps Longevity..get one citizen out of u're city (make a worker or something) then wait till it expands again and it will grow by 2..not 1. But 1 will starve soon

ps. Upgrade you're Swordsmen ;)

You can't irrigate hills can you?

I agree with Bamspeedy on this: I would have built 3 to 4 overlapping cities to get as much of the bonuses out of the gems as possible. It is still possible to plop down a few 'income' cities around this city, however.

three tiles southwest is where I would build a city. It seems that the cvity square itself would not overlap with any other city radius, thus making it a good site-- even if it were just to mine 1 diamond tile. I'm sure if you build the settler from a weak city, then the money you missout on while growing larger will be made up quickly by the money made from getting the diamon commerce.

The problems with placing a city on up to 3 different sides was that, at the time, this area was a long way from my starting city and I was basically trying to claim all the gems before someone else grabbed them.

Talk about outdated units you have 2 swordsmen in that city upgrade them to Guerila's or just disband them. Other than that u could move it a little south and make colonies to get the gems if that suits u.

Can't upgrade em. I don't have Guerilla warfare. I suppose I could just disband them but I'm playing on Cheiftan level anyway so it doesn't really matter :)

Actually to upgrade them to guerillas you need the expansion pack, Play The World (ptw)

O he only has Vanilla Civ ok nvrm
