Ghandi Experiment

I won with Ceasar on Monarch a few times now. Can't do it EVERY time, but I can do it sometimes. I decided to give Ghandi a try. Yup, it's tuff. I did do some crazy experiements, like even founding 4 religions and creating their churches. I was wondering if perhaps a monopoly on religions could get me some sort of path to victory. Unfortuantely that ended up in failure. Ohh I didn't expect it would be a winner, but decided to try some crazy stuff. It does have some advantages though... I was creating different factions so that the AI would try to fight amoungst it'self without me having to bribe anyone.


I'm still back to the drawing board here.

LOL - I once tried a non-warlords game on Monarch where I, as Gandhi, gave myself an isolated island and capital with gold, marble and stone. My goal was to found all seven religions in my capital - that is, before building any other cities.

I succeeded in that...but later I did not manage to colonize my entire island in time - ie before other settlers arrived. So I was boxed in and finally overrun.

However, my "holiest-of-cities" was kinda cool

My first victory on Monarch ever was with Isabella, founding seven religions in my capitol (without isolated start), building exactly one shrine (almost whole world was hindu, only Alex didn't comply - and it was his loss), got all of five cities on large map (two of which were flips - Mehmed didn't understand the cultural power of Madrid when he founded some cities). Diplomatic victory in the end.

Now, I don't recommend 7-headed hydra. You gain nothing really. Three heads are max you can use for gold anyway, so the four other religions can be founded in any city - if you're going for religious monopoly that is. If you have the luck of getting three early religions (and it's purely luck, nothing else - yes, Spain on the Lake (or clams in my case) has better shot than most), continue by expanding as fast as you can while aiming for later religions via: Oracle-CoL, GP-Theo, GS-Philo, and GA/GP-DR (iirc both GA and GP bulb that sooner or later - I think GA after Music). Otherwise you'll be playing OOC for half the game to get the last four heads.. Oh yes - Oracle-CoL and GP-Theo may be fast enough to get if you really want five heads, but the last two will take too long.

Ghandi is philosophical, so your priority would be to find stone, and build the pyramid quickly. After that, run a SE economy (representation, caste system and theology), and go conquering. Fear the warmongering Ghandi.
