As discussed at length in a thread by Perfection, see http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=84982 Giant Death Robots can be assumed to be the cornerstone of Civ IV, but where are they? We have not seen one screen shot showing a giant death robot in production, or in action. Are they in their tranformed state (like lions, or bears)?

Or, do you think Firaxis would be brazen enough to leave giant death robots for an expansion pack dedicated to giant death robots? Like "Civilization 4: Giant Death Robots"?

I am getting very nervous about the general lack of robots, giant, or even simply massive.

Probably not.

You can, of course, edit it in.

OK, I give up. What sort of post in this thread wouldn't be spam?

I will say, Slax, that I am not worried. We haven't seen any screenshots of the install program, either, yet I am certain that Firaxis has taken the time to ensure that Civ can be installed on our computers. We haven't seen interviews with anyone in Firaxis's Account Receivable Department, but it is likely that Firaxis will be receiving money in exchange for each copy of Civ sold. Some things, Slax, you may rest assured exist despite the absence of direct evidence. They are simply so integral to the whole point of the enterprise that they exist below the waterline of our imaginations, so to speak. Giant Death Robots are clearly in this category.

Actually, on a completely serious note, I remember that in Call to power series there were some war machines which might just as well have been giant death robots. By that time in the game, war became horribly nonsensical.

I therefore postulate that the lack of existing Giant Death Robot Type Units is a good thing. Seriously, as students of war, is it not obvious to us that the amount of destructive power in such a GDRTU as say, a warhammer titan, would more efficiently be put into a planet buster?

Oh I'm sure they just haven't finished texturing them yet. You know how they wouldn't want to show us an unfinished version of something that important.
