Why do you say Never use MS Paint?

as far as I can see, ellent program... I use it, save in gif or bmp, depending, but whatever gif it use, then I use PSP to convert it into whatever format I need.

so far I can say, there is no looking difference between 89-a interlaced and 87-a non-interlaced...

OK, I understand...

Anyway, I use it only with bitmap, and only for cut-and-paste... I use PSP for convert, but the minimum possible: I can't got this program to work corectly because it's much too complicated and much too different from what I had known...

I'm niot sure, but possibly differences between FW and MGE may explain this?

I just wanted to clarify a few things.

I am not the one who said 'never use MS Paint'. I always use MS Paint, it is the easiest to use and it has all the basic tools I need.

I never use gifs only bmps for all my scenarios. (that's why I can use MS Paint)

I use Adobe Photo Deluxe for resizing and changing things like contrast, brightness.

I only use PSP for the title.gif which absolutely must be a gif unlike all the other graphic files. Typically I make the title pic first elsewhere and then load up an existing title from somewhere eles and then paste my own title over it.

To save as gif from MS Paint, choose File/Save As, and then below where you enter the save name is a pull down menu for many different kinds of formats.

The civ palette is not something you use. It is the set of colours that civ2 recognises in a gif. If the palette of your gif is different from the 'accepted' palette, Civ2 will not accept the gif.

Unfortunately my only options for 'saving as' are:

Monochrome Bitmap
16 Color Bitmap
256 Color Bitmap
24-bit Bitmap
JPEG Interchangeable format

I've looked all over, and I just don't think I can do it. No problem though, as I can just have someone make my title into a gif.

Any idea how to get past the expired Paint Shop Pro 7 screen. I only use this program to convert my units.gif file to the .gif 89a that civ recognizes. I deleted the old paint shop pro and downloaded a new demo copy, but there must be a file on my computer that is telling the new version that I have used it before.

Or better yet, anybody know another program that con do the same thing. I have MS Photodraw which claims to have this ability, yet it is not explained in the help file.

I have the same problem. I cannot convert my bmp files into .gif . I guess the best way is to use PSP. I havent tried it yet, but hope to do so when it comes with my new system.
