after reading the thread,
I think this is the optimized route:
use maya, get a settler;
cb-sgl hurry pyramid, and start goldenage.
in goldenage research mist and poly,
get 2nd sgl hurry TOA.
no more tech and expend,
wait 66% arrived,
mmm... too little chance to get 2 sgl and a settler without sci and exp trait.

Congrats, killercane! My computer is not getting on too well with civ at the moment but when I get it fixed I'll be looking for some tips. In the meantime I'll just have to satisfy myself by reading about good games.
