I was reading some of the posts in this "Stories and Tales" forum, and was inspired to write my own civ2 story based on a Plutonian Empire scenario in which there are 3 total players, on the World.mp that came with the CD, and with positions randomized, but with resources in normal places. However, after a while of monotony, I basically said, "Ahh, whatever! Just wing it!" I proved to be a interesting game, with cheats on, but used minimally (no improvements or units being popped into existence; just hitting the Y key once in a while to display the world map). It was in Deity difficulty level.

Once I decided to "wing it," things started to heat up. The capital city was already in place, and I had just founded one or two more cities when I met the Saturnians (Babylonians replaced). They demanded I give them one of my civ-specific techs, I refused. Naturally, they declared war. Soon, I met the Chinese, and they did the same things as the Saturnians (demanded techs, declared war). I had 4 cities, and 1790 came along, and I was still pretty far behind in terms of technological advancement (not counting my Pluto techs). Eventually, I got Plutonianism and things were a little bit easier (the citizens stopped rioting, obviously). A few dozen turns later, I got Pltn. Ice Working, which allows for the "Ice Catapult" Basically, their stats are just a bunch of eights, they can attack air units, and they treat all squares as road squares.

Before I knew it, 2000 snuck up on me, and I "planned to retire in 20 years." I was still practically in between the stone age and the middle age, and I had the Ice Catapults. I decided to take a very risky maneuver: GLOBAL DOMINATION IN 20 TURNS:crazyeye::rotfl::crazyeye:!

Somehow, the Chinese started near their regular starting spot. Saturn and I were mor randomly placed: usually, I'm in North America, and Saturnians start in Baghdad/Babylon. In this game, I was in Europe, just above the Black Sea, a few hundred miles inland. Saturn started about a few hundred miles west of the regular Zulu starting point in Africa. I immediately ordered all of my cities to start producing Ice Catapults, no matter what they were currently working on. It took about 10 years to get things rolling and to capture a few cities. When I captured a city for the first time (in the scenario), I realized that I forgot to forbid tech from conquest! Wow! Not only did it work to my advantage, I could have also lost one of MY cities, had I not been properly self-defended; and they would have taken one of my Pluto techs. Here's what my reaction would probably been had they taken one of my Pluto techs:

:aargh:[pissed]:nuke:

Anywho, It took 8 years to complete it. Saturnians were the first to go, but China could have been the first had it not planted cities on Japan and Australia. After Saturn, it was another year or two before I got my rush-built transport to Australia, and another one to Japan. I got the Japan city first.
Next turn, I finally vanquished the Chinese in the year 2018, just TWO turns before I was supposed to retire. The score I got was 902, with a rating of 117%.

Well, I wanted a tale, I got one!
