Globe View Stopped Working

After playing a few sample starter games, suddenly I can no longer see the global view where I can rotate the globe. It worked when I first installed it but not any longer.

Is there some keystroke or setting I may have set by accident that turns off the global view?

The same thing happened to me. When I first loaded the tutorial and a scenario it worked fine but then my machine blue screened when loading a large map and since then i can only get a 'flat' world view a-la-Civ 3. If i click the 'Globe' button it just zooms into the closest view possible on a tile.

I've uninstalled and cleared out all the used folders in My Documents, the game folder and %documents and settings%->my logon->application data->my games as well as cleaning all traces in the registry with jv16 powertools but to no avail. Now I get other problems too such as the black tile problem and skipping sound.

My specs are:
XP SP2
Athlon XP @ 2.4 GHz (3400+)
ATI 9800 pro 128mb with catalyst 5.10
1GB Ram
