GOG has MOO3 Now

I bought MOO3 several years ago at Amazon for around $8. As I played it for around a couple of weeks, lost interest and shelved it, and then, last year gave several of the fan edited versions a try for around a couple of months, I cant complain about the price. Now had I paid $40-50 for it, that would be another thing altogether...

Taht is abut the size of it to me. Not a great game by any stretch, but with mods and a few tweaks to suit ones self, you can get some enjoyment. It still has about the most fun in large fleet battles of any TBS I have tried.

You get 80 or so ships on each side and watch the action, I found that cool. The problem is that getting to that point can be a pain.

Yea I have mixed feelings about this one, I do enjoy the space battles, designing your ships and creating mixed fleets and see the results when you use them ;)
but thats pretty much the only fun aspect of the game, dont know if I'll ever try it again, if you have links to good mods please post them so we can see what they changed.

There is another mod called tropical that changed a lot more of the original program. I found I liked it more than Strawberry. This is the thread at atari:

Tropical has been periodically revised and improved. The original editor had to quit, but another guy took over and added some improvements. His name is Danib and his versions are in his signature. I'm not sure if you need to apply the version 1.21 before applying the newer ones Danib worked on (up 3.11 I think now), it's been a year since I played this game. The thread will tell you how to do it.
