Anyone else excited about this game? It's coming out in mid-late November for all the consoles.

Like many video game fans, I had lots of fun playing 4-player split-screen deathmatch games with GoldenEye for the N64, often hailed as the best FPS ever for its time. Although this game is not a remake of GoldenEye (the storyline is completely different), it apparently will recreate the extremely fun multiplayer (and singleplayer, to a lesser extent) experience found in the classic.

The only similarity Rogue Agent will have to the original Goldeneye is that some of the older multiplayer maps will be in Rogue Agent as well. Otherwise, it's just EA leeching off the Goldeneye name to get more sales. It's understandable, and a smart decision from a business standpoint, but I'm personally going to skip the game, seeing as I'm not a huge fan of FPS games and there's just way too many good games coming out this month.

I think the Timesplitters series is the closest thing any game will get to Goldeneye this gen., unless EA decides to port the game to the DS, which would make me almost as happy if Blizzard announced a true sequel to Starcraft. Sadly, I doubt either will happen.

If it's even close to being as good as goldeneye, HELL YES!!!!! [party]

As I suspected, EA pushed out a mediocre FPS with the Goldeneye name to push sales. 6.3 from both IGN and Gamespot, 53% at Gamerankings. To quote from the Gamespot review:

Don't be fooled: This isn't the GoldenEye you remember playing on the Nintendo 64. Rogue Agent is competent at best, but mostly it's a subpar first-person shooter that fails to stand out in any way.

Yep, Silver, I was a bit stunned when I saw the reviews (forgot to post about it).

I mean, I knew EA would capitalize on the liscense and not worry a whole lot about making sure the game is near the quality of the original, but a 6.3 from GS? Holy crap, I was expecting something more like 8.5.

EA did so well with Everything or Nothing... *tsk tsk*

they should have made the same game with absolutely no changes except the graphics and everyone would have buy it...me the first...God I remember the time we didnt sleep to play golden eyes and comeback home when my family was eating breakfast and my father asking ''did you sleep well?'' lol

You're definitely not the only one who wishes that. *curses EA*

They have the coding of the old N64 game, and they have the bond licensce. They also have a bunch of the people involved with the original Goldeneye in the form of Free Radical. So EA could either remake the real Goldeneye with better graphics, or have Free Radical handle the next bond game. Until then, Timesplitters is the closest thing you'll get to Goldeneye this gen.

EA fooled everyone into thinking that rogue agent was going to be a remake of goldeneye but they just used to name to get people to buy it, they are trying to say they called it goldeneye because the main character has a actual 'golden eye' of course this was all a big coincidence.
Rogue agent has none of the same levels or weapons as the original because rare has the rights to them so EA would have to buy them which it wont, why would they go to all the troble of making a good game when you can make a crap game and people will still buy it because of the name.

look at the urbz they know people will buy it because it is like the sims but only in the city, it dosnt matter that it is a very basic game compared to sims 2 because people will still buy it, EA are after the money, not making good games

PS Why Are My Posts Always So Long?
