So, to those who don't know, the Trails series is a JRPG franchise consisting of 12 games set in a world called Zemuria. As you can see through the link to the fanmade wiki, it has detailed information on its
- Nations
- History
- Technology
- Magic
With all of this combined...could it make for a good Civ game? Simply swap out the map for a randomly generated one and start at what Trails calls the Septian calendar? Obviously, you've to do other changes than this (and get the copyright), but could it be a good start?
This thread is also for other fantasy worlds you feel would work for a Civ-like. Most fantasy worlds, in my opinion, wouldn't- making a secondary fantasy world for a story is much, much, much easier than making a world for even a partially simulationist game without any real narrative to speak of. The former involves 2 steps (figure out what your story is about and what it says, and then make everything your story's scope covers), the latter a thousand more (geography, biology, sociology, astronomy...)
