Gosh Epic game speed is ruined for me.

588 Turns for a Culture Victory with Brazil.. and i was just in the atomic Era 20 Turns for a Tech takes for ever.

The 2% Techpenalty makes the game way to slow even with 6 high Pop Citys with all sience buildings.

Isn't the whole point of playing Epic speed that you want tech progress to be slow in order to use units more during the era? Otherwise, you would play on a faster game speed.

The whole point of playing on epic is that the game takes longer. I always play on epic because I find normal speed too fast.

Completely agree with this. I've been playing epic for a couple of years now, but its just way too much now with BNW. I'm getting back to playing standard again now, but I don't think it's as bad as it used to be.

Had to drop from Emperor to King though.

I have yet to really play a game as of yet( not just BNW, new to CiV as a whole). I loved epic speed in Civ IV. Not sure if I should carry on with that or take it down to normal.

Personally, I found going cultural in GnK was also pretty painful on epic speed. It's just a victory condition that seems to take forever to reach at higher speeds. Now if you're a warmonger then epic is your friend.

Yeah i played Brazil and i dont think that Tourism makes lategame more interesting.
You still click from turn to turn and see your bars rising.
And waiting 20 Turns to get a new Tech makes it really borring.

Yep. cultural VC is so much better as is the late game in general, but that's not to say it doesn't drag... When you know how you are going to win its still a case of next next next...

I've actually been switching down from marathon to epic for the same reasons. I love the extra time, but what takes me one night in epic takes four or five in marathon, which is ridiculous. I still haven't reached Industrial, and I'm probably gonna hit it on the epic game I started this afternoon before I do on my marathon game I started last week. But I feel like epic in BNW hits a nice middle ground between G&K epic and marathon.

Epic is much slower than it was in G&K. I went epic my first run because I wanted to experience the game in full, but things ended up being sooooo slow that I almost just dropped the game. I forced myself to finish it, but it was not fun. Something about the game has made it slower, and I don't just mean slow as in "it takes a long time". I mean slow as in tedious,
