I was away for several weeks and got back a few days ago. I have played till 50BC and was hoping an extension will be in the works. This is wonderful. So the new deadline is this coming weekend, Feb 21st, right?

Yes, the 21st it is.
In my first game here in almost five years, I am in a totally new situation for me and have no secure sense of when I will finish or even if I will win. I am close to the end of the tech tree, but turns are long. I could be done by Wednesday (and if not then, never, as I leave town for a week on Thursday), but if you need to close this GOTM up I understand.
Just finish it. Wednesday is fine to me.

I just looked at the results. Had I turned this game in on time I would have gotten my first green star.
