I'm not done now, but with the end in sight, it might be time to start the spoiler thread.
I was a little reluctant to start the game because of that strange map, nothing but grassland, all major rivers missing, Bosporus and Straight of Messina closed but Peleponnes an island...
Anyway, I decided to try this one as ZCS (zero city start, or whatever it should be called), and start massive hut popping before settling. Theoretically, hut popping shouldn't result in AT's, nomads or Barbs, as long as you don't have a city. Let's see how far I came with that strategy:
-4000 hut: 100g, would have preferred a fast exploring unit
-3650 hut: Advanced Tribe
So my great plan was more or less over before it was started. Next plan: Try ICS, use gold for size 1 settler, head for monarchy
