I seem to have overlooked the fact that there has been no intermediate spoiler thread for the Ottomans Deity game. How is it going? Please don't reveal information about the Middle Ages or later (except for your plans and bonus technologies)!

Settle in place, build warrior-worker-warrior-spear-gran-settlers
Research on Pot, then Alpha
First settler from factory in 2670bc
2590 found 2nd town in a size-4 ring position 4-4-7; also connect 1st lux
2350 found 3rd town 1-1-1-4; pop maps (no barbs!)
2230 finally find the blue borders in the north
2190 found a 2nd ring town in a size-6 ring; meet Germany and they still lack Alpha… so nothing lost
2070 found 8-7-7-7 (village deserted, no barbs again!)
2030 Alpha in, trade it to Germany for WC+37g
1910 found 8-8-9
1750 found 2-2-1
1575 Wri in, only now find out that i also have contact with Russia ?! both do have Wri already, which will be the reason… i cannot really afford contact with China…
1500 China bought the contact to us, here i can sell Wri for TW and CB
1200 MM in, buys HR+Myst+IW+all the gold+maps
1150 find Philo in a hut (is that even possible on Deity!?!?)
1125 lose TGLight to China
650 Rep in, trade it for contact with Rome and Maths and stuff
Rome is relatively big but in the stone age still, they do not even know CB! Get contact with Carths
Revolt and draw 5 turns
570 Republic. Now leading in all imporant figures. But my galley close to a new contact is lost 
490 am first to currency and new age…

1150 find Philo in a hut (is that even possible on Deity!?!?)
You've got to be brave even to open a hut at deity, but finding one at 1150 BC that hasn't already been visited by the AI has to be pretty unusual.
 
not that brave, Alan. i positioned troops on every tile around the hut first, and then walked in (or founded a town, i do not remember). :)

if no adjacent tile is free, there will be no barbs even in case that you draw barbs... :) then you only get the message but see no barb Units.
IF i open huts on higher levels, that is the way i do it... blocking as many tiles around as possible. any unit will do.
EDIT: what still puzzles me is that i could get a tech on Deity - i thought on that level the likelihood for techs from huts is zero.

barbs are high, but that is not what i meant. i thought on Deity any "good" events you can get is gold or maps...
i would not even have popped the hut if i would not have wanted to settle there :)
