Hmm, no Starlifter, maybe I really should have played again this time!

Well, but several exams can surely ruin a whole month.

This month, I used a different e-mail system and different e-mail program. I wne back and sent it again, using a web-based e-mailer I normally use. It's a really great idea to post the list like this!

Totally agree.

It might be a good idea to start a thead where you (possibly once a week) let evryone know who has submitted their game. This would let players know if you have received their files, so they could re-send their files (before the deadline) if you did not receive them.

I plan to make a post like this for every GOTM. But, it most likely just be once and just a few days before the deadline. I don't get many submissions before then and I don't want to provided too much information to others.


I received both of your e-mails, starlifter.

The first one was sent at 11:05 PM, but not received until 3:07 PM the next day.

The second was sent at 5:27 PM and received at 5:56 PM.

After going through a couple games:

We have some very high scoreers this month. Already 5 or so games with GOTM scores around 400+.

As a reminder, GOTM XIX is not due until September 5th. I have already received 6 submissions.

We had a great OCC game submitted by Kev.
donsig showed that playing the game is more than half the fun. His score is officially logged in as zero, but with the pollution that was present, it would have been negative (if the game recorded negative scores).

Sorry. I'm not sure what happened.

You had a score of 709 with a retirement at 2020 AD. That would be a GOTM score of 27.

I'll update the list as soon as I can.

I had fun with the GOTM, but I suppose that I could've done better with the score. Also, I took much of my remaining force that wiped out the Egyptians (about 15 units or so) and began searching the rest of that continent for others. In hindsight, it would've been better for me to re-deploy them where I knew that the enemy was instead!

Oh well. It was fun, though. Thank you, Duke, for the results!

A fun game well worth the play -- I think that I have a few more lessons to learn -- BUILD MORE CITIES! (Just for starters)

Well, I made the bottom of both the Civ 2 and Civ 3 GOTM last month. Guess I can't do worse this time around.

Pushing to finish quickly, to grow rapidly, to manage caravans, to learn new methods, all complicated FUN.

I used to have fun sitting back, building railroads and then clobbering the AI. I miss the Railroads... but then, I would play the same game for 6 months -- now one month is a good limit.

Here's to Kev! One city conquest is great for a GotM! You are becoming the OCC maestro here - a credit to your skills at Civ and at balancing Civ with your family life.

Thank you Duke of M for the results. I do not mean to be picky but I think all the turns except for the ones finishing in 2020 are off by 1. For example, I finished in 1901, that is 301 turns not 302. Gary Nemo finished in 1660, that is 191 turns not 192.

Another mistake is starlifter's. If he finished in 1560 his turns should be 181 not 193 as reported.

The scores reported are based on the reported turns not dates. For example starlifter's score using the date of his finish would come out to 575 and mine to 179.

I double checked with the Excel file on the rule's page before posting this.
