For our brave conquest-class players who have fought tooth-and-nail to reach the middle ages, you probably now want to press-on and beat-up the AI throught the next phase of the game.

If you want some advice from the learned deity-mongers amongst our community, post your middle-age saves here, along with a brief description of your progress and situation, or even ask specific questions. :)

Game summary:

It's 190 BC and I'm surviving.

I have the largest number of cities but my culture and frces could use some improvement.

I researched Polytheism early and traded it for a lot of gold and techs.
I kept up with the others by reseraching Lit. and then trading for Currency and Con. I was afraid of not trading and gettting shaken down for it, so Persia built the GL.

I did a Sword rush but didn't feel strong enough to attack anyone. I disconnected Iron to build warriors to avoid flips.

Sapparo's (in Korea's area) cultural borders actually expanded but I still need some troops there.

I plan to soon start building horses for the obvious Sam. upgrade.

Reasonably good relations with my continent; paying Mongols for our ROP.

Some questions:

1. Should I add a couple more cities to the edges of Sapparo?
2. Should I settle on the one tile "inside" Persia -- maybe I could pile a few Sams next tgo the city, leave it, hoping it would flip so I could trigger a GA?
I figure I should capture Persia's cap (it has the GL), ride the elevator, and then abandon it.
3. Should I go after Korea with my swords soon, or should I just wait till I get Chiv.?

BTW, The Persians recently started C's Observatory. They are the cultural heavyweights. Both teh Mongols and Persians have fought wars; I asuume that their GAs have come and gone.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry for a late reply, King of America. I just finished the game myself (within the last day) and that was my main focus.

I think your questions are too vague, in that there is a lot of context surrounding them. You could do any or all or none of these things you've asked, and as could anyone else, and get very different results. I think Deity games are more about your approach to the game rather than any single decision at any single point.

I play a commercial game. I keep close in Tech, and I buy from the most generous Tech leader, then trade to other laggers who have other Techs I'm missing. This requires a good Gold supply, so I develop my Marketplaces and Banks. Relations are important, and I try to form alliances early on where I'm unlikely to get hurt; later I form alliances to deny trade goods between other AI players, and to gain territory from local victims. Trading, development and resource accrual are all important aspects of my game.

Others may focus more on Military, and plan for a Great Library grab to make up the Techs. And check out Klarius' approach - Military development and research! I think you've got to have a plan for a Deity game, follow it as well as possible, and adjust as the Game and the AI throw curves your way.
