GOTM help me

Hello all!
I have recently found this site and am excited to play the GOTM. However, when I try to open the .sav file, I recieve an 'invalid file type' error. I have installed the new patch, and have tried downloading the .sav and .zip both.
Any suggestions?

I suggest that you try downloading it again. Also, when you have downloaded it, what is the size of the file?

tried to download again, but it didn't work again.
Where should I download to? Maybe I'm putting it in the wrong folder?

I think you have downloaded the game correctly because that is fairly straightforward.

It sounds to me as if you are trying to load the save file for GOTM by using the load scenario command from the main menu instead of the "Load Game" command.

You should be able to load a game from a .sav file from almost any drive location (floppy, network, cd, HD, zip, tape).

See if the command choice has any effect.

I presume that you're not trying to open it by double-clicking?

Start Civ III, and from the main menu, choose "load game". Browse to wherever you saved it to, and it should open.

Sounds like you need to upgrade to the latest patch....

Okay, problem solved.
I re-installed the patch and re-downloaded the .sav
Now, the world is mine!!
