Again this month please join me in congratulating all of our participants in Gotm16-Rome

Gotm16-Rome was another record setting event in terms of participation as well as in terms of in-game scoring. Because this map effectively had the largest land surface area of any map played in the GOTM Games in the last year and then combined with the Emperor difficulty multiplier and the high skilled GOTM players, we had our three top players dancing around that magic 20,000 point mark.

Scores in this game were again high, and over 160 different players participated in Gotm16 and/or the Qsc16 events. Over 50 first time players rose to the challenge of the GOTM games and played well.

Gotm16-Rome will be the last game where the Raw In-Game score will be used to rank player performance and the results table presents you with the ability to compare how the Raw Scores would have been rated by the new Jason Scoring System that is now in effect for all future GOTM Games.

Gotm16-Rome Results Table

We will update the Global Ranking Pages in a few days to include all of the new players plus we will begin releasing additional game statistics and award acknowledgements as those pieces are ready to share with you.

Congrats Moonsinger!

Allthough I have to say that Ribannah's space race was more impressive - meaning that the Jason score is a welcome change to GOTM's. Not that I think the new calculations will change the top 20 ppl in GOTM17.

I can't believe I made it into the top 20! I've never been close before. I really can't believe it. My score was nothing to be proud of (just look at the Jason score), but I was surprised that so few (18) were ahead of me. I suppose my "Millenium Celebration" victory helped my score a bit.

How should I celebrate my best performance in GOTM? Maybe I should follow up with one of the worst performances I could show. Well, that's what I did. Anyway, congratulations to all, and "welcome" to all newcomers!

By the way, why weren't the reload statistics included for this GOTM? Just curious....

I want to congratulate all the winners and tell you the truth I like Jason score (look how it dragged me in the top). We all know that milkers claimed more and more of the top ten spots and this time they took all the top ten spots just for them.

But it was the last time heh heh heh.

Tell you the truth I did not believe any of you would get to 20K but three

A very good job all.

Yeah, that's an astonishing achievement. It will be a long time before I dare go down the OCC road.

Still Adel got the 'latest 20k victory' icon. Not very nice Cracker since Adel where the only 20k player to achieve victory. :spank:

My bad, I just figured out that the culture icon goes for both 100k and 20k. Maybe we need a new icon? ;)

Congratulations Moonsinger on regaining your place at the top! Also, that is a very nice space race victory date, Ribannah! Adel, very nice 20K victory date in 1700, as well! Offa and Sayounara also receive my applause, scoring so highly in only their second GOTM effort. :goodjob:

As for me, I have a lot of improvements to make on my middle to late-game, obviously. I mean, I ranked 19th in the QSC, but then had a freefall to 111th place in the GOTM. If anyone would be willing to take a look at my results and offer me some advice, I would be extremely grateful. (My personal take on my terrible plummet is that although I had a good start, I focused too much on infrastructure, and not enough on military power; because of this, when the Americans attacked me around 1300AD, I was crippled, and it took quite a bit of work to rebuild my infrastructure. By the time I had become powerful, it was too late, as France won the Space Race in 1848AD.) Again, any tips would be appreciated.

I also want to particularly acknowledge a great effort by:

DrewShark
and
kukish

Drewshark has rapidly improved his play skills by participating in the 3 QSCs to accompany each of his 3 GOTM game efforts. In this game he beat Kukish to the Fastest Domination

victory by only just ONE TURN. You cannot cut it much closer than that and both players deserve our congratulations for well played games.

Congrats to the three big milkers for another amazing performace. And good work Ribannah, for an even higher-scoring space race than I did! :)

It will never be finished but will be a continuing process. Sorry it has taken longer than anticipated but we are having to fix things from August through December of last year plus get the new things on-line.

We have to be patient to expect the best results, and I am conficent you will be pleased.

Pieces of the Pantheon are being assembled behind the scenes and some of these features are already being linked into the results.

You will see more cool stuff in the coming weeks.

Well, first of all congratulations to everyone.
To tell the truth, I was expecting Moonsinger & the rest of the "dairy club" to reack 40k, as there used to be a strong statistical correlation between their score and mine, giving a consistent 4:1 ratio... The fact that it "dropped" to 2:1 is to me the sign of a large improvement! ;)

Of course, now we will have to adapt to the new scoring system, which means that I'll most likely drop down several hundred places in the next ranking...

Some miscellaneous comments:

Singularity - there will be a separate Cultural 20k award, mainly thanks to Aeson's efforts in defining the new scoring system. It will be interesting to see what happens in GOTM 17...

DaveMcW - I am working more on the PoH than on my real work... :mischief: As Cracker says, a lot has been going on behind the scenes for the last two-three months. If I don't get myself fired, you'll see all sorts of PoH's in a relatively short time.

Final congratulations to Cracker -most of you have already posted hundreds of thanks and congrats for his energy, efficiency and such.
I want to add my voice to congratulating him on his smilies... I love them so much I couldn't resist the temptation to congratulate him with my personal favourite (stolen from Cracker's collection... :D)

Just wanted to give a big thanks to anyone that makes these games of the month possible. Just found this site 4 weeks ago, and was able to complete my first game of the month with just a few hours to spare! (finished at the bottom of the winners.... not too bad... but much to learn)

Thanks again.

I also want to Congratulate Drewshark and kukish : I am really astounded at how fast they got those victories, way to go guys !

I really miss the reload counter as well I must admit... why don't we have it anymore ?

Congratulations to everyone :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Except to myself, I had a very good QSC and then I really messed up, ended 87th (QSC 9th).

I'll hope I'll do better with GOTM 17

Congratulation to all the players!:goodjob:

Also many thanks to Cracker and the GOTM staffs for creating a wonderful game. After GOTM15, I thought I was going to retire from the dairy business for awhile, but then SirPleb, the grand master of civ3, came back to the forum. In order to honor him and for all the good lessons that I have learned from him any many other great players, I tried my very best not to disappoint him; therefore, the result of this high score. If it wasn't for him and many other players' willingness to share information, ideas, and tactics, I would never be able to get near the top ten spot. To all of you guys, thanks for your helps, wonderful tactics and stories. Although this is my fourth game, I have been reading about you guys for year (especially all the threads from Aeson and SirPleb). To both Bremp and SirPleb, it has been a pleasure matching up with you guys in this map; it was a very close call.

---------

To Ribannah: Well done!:goodjob: According to Jason score, you are #1. To be perfectly honest, now that my dairy cows are on vacation, I don't know if I can go on without them.

---------

To Adel: Your game was great!:goodjob: I'm just curious on why you were leaving so much unuse grasslands within less than 10 squares West of Rome.

---------

To Jonathan: If you like, you can email me your 1100 AD and 1200 AD save, and I will see if I can help.

JonathanValjean and Jurimax:

You mention that you both did well in QSC but not in the GOTM. My experience was just the opposite. I had a weak QSC (54 out of 65), but finished 39 in the GOTM.

I don't know what all of those statistics mean but perhaps we could consider ourselves the exceptions to the general rule.

In any event, the game was great fun. My personal best on Emperor level.

Aeson or anyone that know the answer,

I have a quick question about the score. When I plug my number to the Jason Score Calculator for GOTM16, the number doesn't come out right. For example,

Score : 20860
Date : 2050 AD
Victory : whatever
---------------
Your score: 13471

How do you come up with the Jason score of 10205?

Thank you in advance for anyone who post the answer.:)

Mine comes out differently, too.

I'd still prefer a simpler formula anyway, like a max of about 40 points for speed (calibrated for the fastest in each category) and a max of 60 for in-game score (the top infinite milker, a.k.a. as "Moo"(n)singer ;) would have 60, but never more). A speed player would need to have an in-game score of more than 1/3 of the top milking score to end up ahead. Doable but hard, everyone has a chance.
