Grand Menagerie

Grand Menagerie is really hard to get, indeed.
The only time I managed to build it, I wasn't planning to at all. One scout of mine (given at a goody hut) developed surprisingly well. They generally die so quickly.
He ended up catching about 3-4 griphons, 3 giant spiders and lots of wolves, lions and bears (I had a bear or wolf pen in almost every early city of mine). He, luckily, found a gorilla, in the mid-game.
The hardest part was finding a tiger. I heard getting a tiger is fairly easy if you adopt FoL (cuz you can produce'em), but as I didn't plan for the Menagerie (had RoK) I'd never even bother with it. It was only after I did the Genesis ritual that I've managed to capture one, really late game...

This does get brought up a lot, but I think that's the way Kael originally intended it. There is even a trophy available for managing to create it, which isn't the case for other wonders...

It is tough to build.

I got lucky in my latest game (A Svart CoE game to check out the latest CoE changes)...popped AH from a graveyard early on, and got a couple scouts ranked up.

About 15 tiles north of my border the jungle starts, so I sent them both up there and lo and behold, grabbed a gorilla and a tiger within about 5 turns. The rest was easy.

One game the hunter visited me touting his wares so often I managed to build the GM just from his offerings. :crazyeye:

Perhaps making a purchase from him should increase the chance of the event occuring again? Seemed to happen that way for me.

I once got wolf, lion and gorilla from him. As I was playing FoL, tigers were easy. And there has got to be a bear out there somewhere.
