Granny Model Help D:

I'm currently trying to see if I can import a .gr2 model from Age of Empires 3 into Civ V. It's not a unit, just a building as of now and the only thing I've managed to do so far is extract the granny model from AoE. I'm able to view the file fine in Granny Viewer but Nexus Buddy can't open it for some reason. It says:

Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Specified cast is not valid.

Also, just wondering, how much work is needed to import an already pre-made building model into Civ V? I'm thinking of using it as the model of an improvement. Just thinking about it is easy, since it's already a granny model, but I've noticed that AoE uses .ddt files instead of .dds, and I'm not sure if that makes a huge difference or not. Would I eventually have to somehow open up the model and edit its texture paths and stuff?

I'm still quite new to and inexperienced with Blender, so I couldn't begin to diagnose that error. Try asking in this thread. Our most experienced 3D modelers tend to watch that thread and respond to requests for help there; they may not have seen this thread.

I've never seen .ddt used in Civ 5, so you might have to do this. Though you don't have to edit texture paths for the .gr2, you can define which textures the model uses in its .fxsxml file.

Thank you so much for the reply!! I can finally get unstuck now xD thanks! I'll let you and everyone know how it goes after I test it out for anyone that wants to use it in the future x)

I'd be very interested in it. I not only have Age of Empires 3, but a modded Age of Empires 3 that's a treasure trove of models waiting to be used.

The only tutorial I have for Blender is in spanish though.

Hmmm so far I'm just using someone else's mod's improvement and just replacing the granny file to see if it works... no errors but the model isn't showing up. I'm going to try adjusting the scale and stuff to see what happens. I'm extremely new to this stuff :P

Also, what does source = "Max" mean?

EDIT: I'm going to post in that forum topic to see what I can do.
