Graphics problem

I noticed this first in Civ4:BtS, but it appears also in standard Civ4 - first I had the error "try reducing your graphics settings"; so I reduced them and for a period it was working normally. then it would start just fine, but after a few minutes something would happen with graphics, and every few seconds the screen would go black for less than a second. after I quit the game, those problems still remain, even after I reset the computer the graphics is still f'ed up
my card is GeForce 6600 Gt, with the latest drivers. any suggestions?

anyway, it looks like it was a graphics card problem, it got so far I couldn't even start my PC. the game probebly just started it, still something was wrong. So I bought a new graphics card and it seems to work just fine!

Hi, my copy of Civ does exactly the same and I have a Geforce 6600 too ... after about 3 minutes play it starts to flicker, then freezes. So ... does anyone out there know how to fix this, replacing a graphics card just for Civ (even though we are fanatics, does seem a bit extreme ...
